With new USDA regulations in place, school lunch has never been healthier. We want to encourage kids to eat balanced, nutritious meals during lunch. To get you and your school excited, Chartwells-Thompson is hosting a competition! In our Lunch is Great! Giveaway, your school will be competing with elementary schools in nearby Districts. The competition runs from January 22nd to March 22nd, 2013. The three schools with the highest increase in school lunch participation during the competition dates win!
1st Place: $300 Chartwells Bucks
2nd Place: $150 Chartwells Bucks
3rd Place: $100 Chartwells Bucks
Chartwells Bucks work like a gift card for the amount awarded. That new lamination machine your school needs? Chartwells can get it for you! Your coaches need new athletic equipment? Chartwells can provide it! Anything from school supplies, to office or kitchen supplies, to catering for parties and meetings can be exchanged for Chartwells Bucks.
To help you kick things off, Chartwells-Thompson will also be providing a promotion each month for students. One Lucky Tray Day will occur each month, starting January 22nd. Each Lucky Tray Day, there will be one random student per grade level that will be selected as a winner (e.g. if you are a K-5 school, 6 winners per Lucky Tray Day). Chartwells-Thompson is providing a FREE pencil pouch to each winning student! This is a great opportunity for you to promote eating a healthy lunch in the cafeteria to your students.
Additionally, if your school is one of our prize winners, we will reward one of your classes with a party! The class with an average of 90% lunch participation for the competition participation dates will receive an Ice Cream Party from Chartwells-Thompson.
Every 2 weeks between January 22nd and March 22nd, a scoreboard update will be posted on our website and emailed to you, letting you know who is in the lead! Winners will be announced April 3rd, 2013.
You know your students better than anyone. That is why we are leaving it to you and your teachers to think of ways to get students more involved in lunch – whether it is by hosting your own school-wide competition, or by promoting school lunch with a Healthy Foods Week. With your help, we know that we can get our kids eating healthy and staying balanced!
Good luck! If you have any questions, please direct them to Louisa.Camp@compass-usa.com
Sincerely,
Chartwells-Thompson & DCPS Food Services
