Please be sure to sign them and send back.  Please don't lick the envelope as that is the envelope that will be used for all 4 report cards.  Thank you   November 6th- Election Day (students will participate in a mock voting process in class) we will tally our class results and see on November 7th if we came out with the same outcome as the Nation Wide Election Day results.   November 7th- Early Dismissal   November 9th- Art

Reading Celebration Week (Oct 29-Nov 2)

Bartram Springs will be participating in a reading celebration week starting on Monday October 29th.  Schedule is as follows:

Monday- Reading Celebration Kick-Off Assembly in the cafeteria

Tuesday- 5th Grade Wax Museum

Wednesday- Book Character Parade (Kindergarten only)

Thursday- Flashlight Reading Day

Friday- Dudes Do Read  as well as Fall Festival from 5pm-8pm

Red Ribbon Week

This week is "Red Ribbon Week" and students are encouraged to participate in the daily activities to show their pledge to stay drug free!

Monday- Our Slipper will "Give drugs the slip"
Tuesday- Wear your favorite cap to "put a cap on drugs"
Wednesday- Let's "Sock it to drugs" by wearing crazy socks
Thursday- Wear sunglasses to  "Shade out drugs"

Field Trip Permission Slips

Just a reminder that field trip permission slips and money are due back no later than Friday (10/19).  Please be sure to send in cash only.  If you want to go on the field trip be sure that you have submitted your volunteer information to the county via www.duvalschools.org in order to be able to go on the classroom trips with us.

Donation item for October....

For the month of October our school will be collecting "CANNED SOUP" for a local food bank. 

Dudes Do Read....

It's that time of the year again to get all the DUDES into our school to promote reading!  If you have a DUDE at home that would like to come in and volunteer for our semi-annual "Dudes Do Read" event on November 2nd please send me an e-mail (mcdonnellv@duvalschools.org).  I will forward all names to our assistant principal Mrs. Lampkin and she will then be sending more information your way in regards to the event.

Reminder....

Scholastic book orders are due no later than Friday 9-28-12.  Remember that every book that's ordered give us points to get FREE books to add to our classroom library!  Thank you for supporting your child's learning both at home as well in the classroom.

This week (9-24-12) in our classroom...

Just wanted to let you know a few things that will be going on in our classroom this week.

In reading we are starting on theme 2 of 10.  The theme for the next 3 weeks is "Surprise!".  This week we will be working on the following skills:

• Blending Phonemes
• Reviewing d, w, l, x; Short o and blending short o words
• Noting Details
• Spelling Patterns
• High Frequency Words: upon, four, in, five, once, what, three, two

In writing we have started working on Narrative Writing and will continue to do so for several weeks to come.

In math we are currently working on Counting and Quantity: Developing strategies for accurately counting a set of objects by ones.  We are using whole number operations with the assistance of manipulative, drawing, tools and notation to show strategies and solutions.

Tuesday we have P.E.

On Wednesday @ 8:45 we have our school wide fundraiser "FUNRUN" on the track.  Please come out to cheer our team on.

Friday we have Library...Please be sure to send in your child's book on Thursday so I can get them returned and check back in before they go to the library to check out a new book on Friday.

September Food Collection Item

Our school helps support a local food drive.  Each month classrooms in the school collect a school wide item of the month.  This month the donation item is:
